Oreo was rescued on July 9th, 2005. I (Matt) worked as a security guard at a resort campground
in Connecticut that summer. A farmer camped there one weekend, and he had brought with him several cages of baby rabbits
he wanted to get rid of. As kids walked by his campsite and saw the cute little rabbits, the man gave each kid several
in a shoe box. When the kids brought the rabbits back to show their parents, the parents were then forced to go buy
a rabbit cage and supplies for pets they didn't really want. Some of the parents wrongly decided that it would be
best to just open the shoe box and let the rabbits go. It took me over eight hours and the help of several kids to finally
get one baby rabbit out from underneath a deck where she was hiding. Now Oreo is all grown up, and we bring her all
over Massachusetts to teach people about responsible pet ownership. Oreo is one tough cookie!
Milky was rescued
on October 13th, 2007. He was spotted hiding under a parked car on a very busy road in Abington, MA. After stopping
home to get our spot lights, nets, and carrier, we came back in the dark and located him by seeing his "eye shine"
with our lights. Milky was brought right in to see a veterinarian, who determined that he was a very healthy but
old bunny in need of lots of food and attention. He was only 3.5 pounds and we could see his ribs. Milky is such
a good boy who loves his veggies and usually comes running when he sees us!
Angel was adopted on October 7th, 2007.
We drove to Wareham, MA and got her from a family that was moving and could not bring her along. That family only had
her for one month, and they had rescued her from a local animal shelter where she was about to be put to sleep because they
ran out of space at the shelter. We named her Angel because the first day we got her she would already hop up onto our
laps for attention and was litter box trained just like a cat! What a little angel.
